Cairn Terriers Information about Cairn Terriers. A small member of the Terrier Group of dogs, the Cairn Terrier hails from the Western Isles of Scotland. It is one of the oldest terrier breeds. It was originally bred to hunt small burrowing animals during the 16th century.
